About the Event
Join us for our inaugural Montezuma County Harvest Team Training and Harvest Extravaganza Tuesday, 8/25 at 8:30. The Good Food Collective, Sharehouse, Deep Creek Ranch, and Team Up Food Security Action Team are looking for community volunteers to join our Harvest Team. This team is a group of trained volunteers who lead fruit and vegetable harvesting events across Montezuma County as your interest and schedule permits. We partner with backyard fruit tree owners and the occasional farmer to harvest excess fruit and veggies and donate them to Montezuma County food assistance providers. As a member of the Harvest Team, you will learn valuable skills, give back to your community, and can take home as much of the bounty as is of interest. Interested Harvest Team members can also join our call list for paid farm labor opportunities.
Our COVID-adapted Harvest Team Training will take place on Tuesday, 8/25 at Deep Creek Ranch beginning at 8:30a.m. We will cover basic field safety, food safety, and harvesting techniques...To put it all to practice, we will then dive in and harvest oodles of carrots and beets to be donated to Mancos Foodshare.
When: Tuesday, 8/25 at 8:30a.m.-4:00p.m. (if you need to leave earlier, that is alright)
Where: Deep Creek Ranch, 10455 Road 39, Mancos CO 81328
